A few of these generate nofollows on the links which is why I eliminated them from my syndication set. Am I missing something? Please let me know if you disagree with this rational. I suspect the links can still generate some direct traffic, but it seems like a poor use of time. Do you disagree?
@ Alison At the end of the day, a link is a link regardless of whether it is a “rel=nofollow” or otherwise. Now it is a common misconception that a “rel=nofollow” instructs search engine crawlers no to follow the link (as the name suggests). There have been studies that has shown that search engine crawlers follow “no follow” links but these links don’t count in the ranking algorithm. In other words they are discounted.
So while these “no follow” links may not help you in ranking higher, they definitely would help you with the crawling and indexing of your website. Hope this helps.
