Challenging the integrity of PR
Another PR update (October 2009) by Google has left us all scratching our head with one important question “Does PR really matters”
Page rank is an algorithm used by Google for analyzing the links. The more quality inbound links lead to increase the significance of your site/blog in the eyes of Google. Nobody knows the actual criteria on which Google assigns the PageRank to a particular site. We can only make assumptions.
The importance of green bar has diminished over the years and now it really doesn’t matter when search marketing has shifted to behavioral targeting. If you think that PageRank plays a crucial role in increasing the popularity of your website, then you may be on the wrong path. It’s the networking of your site with the social networking site like twitter and Face book which plays a greater role in deciding the relevancy of your site.
Higher PR means that your web page has more value as compared to the other sites and also your site might be crawled more by spiders as compared to other sites having less PR. This may help you to fetch some money for placing a link on your site, but for how long?
Evidence from the Susan Moskwaan, an Employee of Google Webmasters, it has been confirmed that webmasters should not take page rank as the most important metric. Therefore one should not focus on page rank for increasing or improving the relevancy of your site. You need to focus really on different other metrics which can actually help you in increasing the relevancy and importance of your site. The factors may include no. of index pages, traffic, creativity, twitter followers, Good Quality of Content, RSS subscribers etc.
